Sulzer is to acquire JWC Environmental, a leading supplier of municipal and industrial wastewater equipment.
The deal will bolster Sulzer’s offer in solids reduction and removal products including grinders, screens, and dissolved air flotation systems for municipal, industrial and commercial wastewater. Strategically, it strengthens the company’s wastewater treatment offer and improves its access to the US market.
On the other side, Sulzer will support JWC to expand outside of North America into Europe, Middle East, Africa, and Asia, where “significant sales synergies are expected,” a Sulzer statement said.
JWC has 230 employees and generated $82 million sales in 2017. The acquisition assumes an enterprise value of $215 million.
JWC will operate as part of Sulker’s pumps equipment division and will continue to have its headquarters in Santa Ana, California. As well as the main manufacturing site in Santa Ana, JWC has three smaller assembly sites at Burnaby, Canada; Congleton, UK; and Hangzhou, China.
The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2018 subject to regulatory approval.
