US DoE invites bids for R&D funding in solar desalination
04 Oct 17 by desalination

The US Department of Energy is to award $15 million across up to 10 projects to research solar desalination technology, as part of its SunShot initiative.
The funding will support research, development and potential demonstration of early stage technologies that can significantly reduce the costs of desalination.
The scheme will make seven to 10 awards from $500,000 to $5 million across four topic areas: Innovations in thermal desalination technologies; low-cost solar thermal heat; integrated solar desalination systems; and analysis for solar desalination.
Would-be recipients are invited to submit a brief, mandatory concept paper by December 4, and full applications are due on 16 March 2018.
