IDE Technologies is ranked second in this year’s Fortune top 50 Change the World list of companies, behind GlaxoSmithKline and ahead of General Electric.

The Change the World list recognises companies making a positive social impact through activities that are part of their core business strategy. Fortune prioritises companies with annual revenue of $1 billion or more when compiling the list, and evaluates them against three criteria: measurable social impact, business results, and degree of innovation.

In an interview for the September edition of Water. desalination + reuse, IDE Technologies chief executive Avshalom Felber outlines why he thinks that the “real revolution” in water technology in future will be pressure-retarded osmosis, and talks about a possible sale of the business.

The top 10 companies in the Fortune top 50 Change the World list in 2016, ranked from top, are: GlaxoSmithKline, IDE Technologies, General Electric, Gilead Sciences, Nestle, Nike, MasterCard, United Technologies, Novozymes, and First Solar.
