The Dubai Water and Electricity Authority and Saudi Aramco have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to include research and development (R&D) on desalination.
The MoU outlines co-operation on R&D, energy and smart grids. The aim is to shape the future of energy in Dubai.
The R&D programme will cover water desalination and purification, innovation and testing centres, power generation, smart grids and network integration, process automation, robotics, artificial intelligence, blockchain, 3D printing and digital transformation.
The pair will cooperate on the Energy Service Company (ESCO) model to enhance energy efficiency and build retrofits, as well for training and capacity building. The partners will further co-operate on carbon abatement innovations and climate change adaptation.
