Punjab to fund groundwater desalination pilot

The chief minister of Punjab state in India has earmarked INR 25 million ($351,050) for a groundwater desalination pilot project.

The pilot aims to desalinate 5,000 m3/d of groundwater sourced from waterlogged villages in the landlocked state.

The news was announced by minister Amarinder Singh alongside other public spending plans.

The Punjab Department of Water Supply & Sanitation will be preparing a project implementation plan.
