The Seychelles Public Utilities Corporation (PUC) is expanding its main desalination plant by adding 4,500 m3/d of new capacity, reports Seychelles News Agency.
The project at Providence on the island of Mahe will increase supply at a time when La Gouge dam is to be drained for renovation works.
The capacity of Providence desalination plant will expand from 11,500 m3/d to 16,000 m3/d.
The project cost is $11 million and will be funded by the PUC.
The works include adding new compressors, pumps and other equipment and constructing a new pipeline to a reservoir at Petit Paris. The project will complete by the end of July 2019.
