The Membranes and Desalination Specialty IV Conference, to be held in Gold Coast on 11-12 February 2011 by the Australian Water Association, has a problem solving focus.
How can bio-fouling of membranes be reduced or eliminated? Can the pre-treatment process be improved to minimise damage to membranes and prolong their life? Will nano-membranes be capable of fulfilling their promise when used at commercial scale ? How much concern should be given to the debate about health risks associated with their use? How successful have efforts been to reduce the noise problem associated with energy-recovery devices in plant operations?
Presentations are being sought for the following broad categories:
New research and its application, emerging areas for future enquiry, unsuccessful initiatives whose concepts still hold promise case studies, and experiences associated with planning and implementing capture and reuse will be welcome.
Deadline for submissions is 3 September 2011.
Keynote speakers include Dr Gary Amy (Saudi Arabia), Professor Amy Childress (University of Reno, US) and Tobie Welgemoed. The venue is the Crowne Plaza, Surfer’s Paradise.
