Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is planning to build three desalination plants, according to a report in the Times of India
The newspaper reports the MMRDA commissioner Ratnakar Gaikwad, the Indian city is aiming for a total capacity of 500,000 m³/d.
Detailed project reports for the plants would be ready “in a few months”, Gaiwad said, and would be located at Vasai-Virar, Mira-Bhayandar and in the city of Mumbai itself.
