Canadian membrane water treatment supplier H2O Innovation Inc announced on 20 January 2010 that it had signed a sales representative agreement with 3M Purification Inc, formerly known as CUNO Incorporated, a world leader in the separation, clarification, and purification of fluids and gases with global operations.

Pretreatment course scheduled by EDS for May 2010
The European Desalination Society (EDS) on 15 January 2010 announced a four-day course on Pretreatment, membrane fouling and scaling to be held in Genoa, Italy, on 31 May – 3 June 2010.

Patented vented RO seal-carrier introduced
US desalination membrane manufacturer Nitto Denko/Hydranautics has introduced a vented seal-carrier design for all reverse-osmosis membrane elements, which prevents pressure shocks to the element shell and reduces element burst risk.

Work starting on 2nd Chennai SWRO plant
Work is due to begin in January 2010 on the 100,000 m³/d Nemmeli seawater desalination plant south of Chennai, India. Chennai Metrowater issued work orders in the first week of January for the project.

Toray wins large RO orders in Bahrain and Spain
Toray Industries Inc announced on 24 December 2009 that it had won a series of orders to supply reverse osmosis (RO) membranes for desalination plants in Bahrain and Spain.
