Glass-reinforced plastic piping and fittings for the low- to medium-pressure process lines of the Marina Baja Desalination Plant, situated in the district of Mutxamel in Alicante, Spain, will be supplied by Protesa, the Spanish pipe manufacturer.
The contract was awarded by the Marina Maja joint venture, which consists of the companies Degremont, Acsa and Rover Alcisa.
The plant, with a capacity of 17.5 million m³/year, will supply water to a population of approximately 200,000 people living in the towns of Mutxamel and El Campello and will, in the future, also supply water to Alicante and San Vicente del Raspeig.
Less than a year, ago Protesa also supplied the seawater intake and brine discharge lines for the same plant, consisting of DN 1200 mm pipelines of a total length of 8km, as well as the corresponding river crossing sections and culverts which enabled it to pass under motorways and roads.
