Water utility, California American Water, has received a US$1 million grant from the state’s Department of Water Resources to help fund the company’s $4 million planned slant well test.
The test is intended to prove the viability of a subsurface intake for the utility’s proposed 36 Ml/d seawater reverse osmosis plant that will be part of its Monterey Peninsula Water Supply Project.
The grant was awarded under the state’s US$ 3.4 billion Proposition 50 water project support scheme.
