German consulting group Lahmeyer announced on 15 June 2012 that it had acquired a majority interest in IDP Consult of the Philippines.
The share purchase agreement was signed on 16 April 2012 and closing of the transaction took place on 6 June 2012. After closing, Lahmeyer will own 70% of the company’s shares.
IDP Consult is among the premiere Philippine-based management consultancy firms with accumulated proficiencies in the fields of water supply and sanitation, energy and infrastructure, environmental and urban development, as well as municipal finance and financial management, institutional capacity building and governance.
The company will operate under the name Lahmeyer IDP Consult and will co-ordinate its services closely with Lahmeyer International. The president of the company, Evelyn Orda, will continue to manage the business.
IDP Consult has undertaken over 150 technical assistance projects in more than 30 countries for clients consisting of international donors such as the Asian Development Bank, the World Bank and other development institutions. In addition to its own staff the company works together with ten local partners and generated a turnover of € 1.6 million in 2011.
With the merger Lahmeyer Group anticipates an expansion of its impact in the water, energy and environmental markets across the Asian region. As an integral part of the group, Lahmeyer IDP Consult will benefit from the joint access to information, technical and manpower resources comprising interregional networks of specialists, project managers and support professionals with relevant experience worldwide.
