An owner’s engineering services contract for the Ras Az Zawr Power & Desalination Plant in Saudi Arabia has been awarded by the Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC) to the energy business group of Finnish firm Pöyry.
Pöyry said on 30 June 2011 that its assignments included assisting the client in the review of the engineering-procurement-construct (EPC) contractor’s detail design and the inspection of workshop tests.
Pöyry will also execute site supervision of the EPC contractor’s construction and erection as well as commissioning and testing for the US$ 1.46 billion project. The total value of Pöyry’s assignments amount to about EUR 15 million over the next 4.5 years.
The contract includes a 2,650 MW combined cycle power station and 1.025 million m³/d desalination plant.
