Sunshine Coast, Australia, to assess potential for a desalination plant

Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia, is expected to need a new, bulk source of water by 2040 that could be supplied by desalination, reports Sunshine Coast Daily.

State water company Seqwater said it would be investigating potential options over the next few years, in response to changing weather patterns and growing population that could see Sunshine Coast run out of water by 2040.

The proposal is in its very early stages.

An updated version of Seqwater’s future water plan is to be completed by 2022.
