The Republic of Tajikistan and the United Nations department of economic and social affairs are running a symposium on sustainable water management on 9 August, in Tajik’s capital city, Dushanbe, reports Tehran Times.
Tajikinstan is adopting the UN’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, including a sustainable development goal on water (SGD 6), whose target is to ensure safe drinking water and sanitation.
Water experts in government and business from 75 countries are poised to participate, and to share best practice on integrated water resource management.
Among the aims of the UN’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development are tackling water scarcity and water pollution, and expanding international co-operation and capacity-building expertise into developing countries, in fields including desalination, and water reuse technology.
