The International Desalination Association has chosen São Paulo in Brazil as the venue for the next World Congress in 2017.

After a site visit to São Paulo, the IDA board of directors accepted the recommendation of its site selection committee and chose the city as the host for the 2017 World Congress on desalination and water reuse. The other two competitor cities were Busan, Korea, and Kuwait City.

Following bid presentations from the Asociación Latino Americana de Desalinación y Reuso del Agua and the São Paulo organizing committee the IDA’s site selection committee was impressed by the potential of the city in absorbing the innovative technologies and knowledge that will be featured in IDA’s biennial World Congress.

The event will be held in the second half of 2017 - dates and details of the venue are being finalised. The Congress is expected to bring more than 2,000 delegates from all over the world.
