Indian OEM Shivsu Canadian Clear International Ltd has become the first Indian company to successfully install desalination water plants, worth Rs 50 crore (US$ 11 million), for the Oman and Egypt governments.
Shivsu’s work included design, manufacture, supply, construction and commissioning of the plants on a turnkey basis.
Shivsu’s reverse-osmosis membrane technology is 100% indigenous and was designed, engineered, manufactured and assembled at the company’s Chennai plant. A feature of the desalination plants are their compactness and containerization.
The installed capacity of the Rs 30 crore (US$ 6.5 million) Egyptian plant is 20,000 m³/d. It will benefit 1 million people and was installed in six months.
The company’s Rs 20 crore (US$ 2.4 million) plant for the Oman Army is a three-pass desalination system supplying 3,000 m³/d. The project was executed in the middle of the desert three months. Both projects were completed on time and on budget.
