Aberdeen-based Monitor Systems Scotland has won a contract to supply six 50 m³/d reverse-osmosis (RO) desalination units for three North Sea offshore platforms operated by TAQA Bratani, owned by Abu Dhabi National Energy Company PSJC.
The six ITT C’Treat RO units will provide fresh water on the Cormorant Alpha, North Cormorant and Tern platforms. Built at the C’Treat plant in the USA, they will be installed by Wood Group and commissioned by Monitor Systems Scotland by the end of 2010.
Part of an overall upgrading programme on the three platforms, the six RO watermakers guarantee a reliable, on-platform supply of potable or drinking water.

As well as enhancing our reputation in this field, the order reinforces the swing towards on-deck desalination, as opposed to bunkering and lesser systems.”
Sinclair confirmed that this order to Monitor Systems Scotland had contributed to exceeding its annual sales target for water treatment units and coupled together with other new business, had led to a recruitment drive for experienced engineering and support staff.
