PUB and Grundfos deepen water research partnership

Singapore’s national water utility PUB and global pumps firm Grundfos, of Denmark, have unveiled a strategic partnership that is developing new capabilities in water quality monitoring, among other initiatives.
In a three-year research and develop agreement that was signed on 10 July 2018 at Singapore International Water Week, the two organisations pledged to innovate in the fields of water treatment, pumping, and digital solutions including water quality monitoring.
PUB and Grundfos began their collaboration in 2014 by testing a new wastewater treatment technology at Kranji Water Reclamation Plant, and by demonstrating Grundfos sensors across PUB’s water network. The latest memorandum of understanding builds on this work, and is focusing on water quality monitoring to ensure drinking water standards and to enhance operational efficiency across PUB’s network.
“PUB must continue investing in research and development if we are to meet an expected 100 per cent increase in water demand by 2060, and we’re excited to strengthen our collaboration with Grundfos,” said PUB assistant chief executive (future systems and technology), Harry Seah.
“This collaboration may lead to solutions to support Singapore, and potentially become a case study for other countries and cities,” added Grundfos managing director Asia Pacific, Kim Jensen.
