Newly certified MBR included in reuse study

A test conducted on the MeurerMBR flat sheet membrane bioreactor (MBR) by engineers MWH to certify the product for wastewater reuse in California resulted in MWH including the device in a WateReuse Research Foundation (WRRF) study.

The WRRF study is designed to develop new disinfection guidelines for satellite MBR water recycling facilities, and seeks to develop more stringent guidelines attainable with the higher quality effluent produced by MBRs.

Colorado-based Meurer Research Inc claims that its technology, originally called MRI Bio-Cel® MBR, is the only back-pulsable flexible flat-sheet MBR available.

Equipped with the new granular-bead chemical-free Mechanical Cleaning Process (MCP), also included in the study, MeurerMBR outperformed California Title 22 requirements in all areas, with excellent filtrate turbidity not exceeding 0.1 NTU, and a 4.0-log removal of virus at 50th percentile.
