Authorities in Libya are to build a new desalination plant in Misrata, reports Libya Observer.
The news emerged as representatives from Misrata Municipal Council, the General Desalination Company of Libya (GDCL), and the local water company, visited the proposed site of the project in Misrata, southeast of capital city Tripoli, on the Mediterranean coast. Those present included the city’s mayor, members of the council, and engineers from the desalination and water companies.
Libya’s General Authority for Water Resources has reportedly moved to establish the plant in Misrata in partnership with GDCL.
* In August 2017, the desalination plant in Tobruk, near to Libya’s border with Egypt, closed abruptly due to a lack of chemicals, sparking protests.
