LG Water Solutions is to provide its high rejection NanoH20 reverse osmosis membranes to the new 250,000 m3/d desalination plant that is slated to be built in Sohar, Oman, by 2019.
The plant will be designed, constructed, operated and maintained by Valoriza Agua, the Spanish subsidiary of Sadyt, at a cost of $1.2 billion.
“This is a significant project for LG Chem,” said Mr Chul Nam, LG Chem vice president. “We are honoured to have been chosen by Valoriza Agua, a leader in desalination, as the membrane supplier for the Sohar plant.”
South Korea’s LG Chem acquired NanoH20, of Los Angeles, US, in May 2014, and has since expanded its product portfolio to include high rejection brackish water reverse osmosis (RO) membranes, anti-fouling brackish water RO membranes, and residential RO membranes. LG Water Solutions is a business unit of LG Chem.
