The LAPSSET Authority is to build a desalination facility in Lamu County, Kenya, reports Kenya News Agency.

The capacity of the plant will be a minimum of 3,000 m3/d and the cost is pegged at KES 350 million ($3.4 million).

The LAPSSET Corridor programme (Lame Port, South Sudan, Ethiopia Transport Corridor) is the largest infrastructure project in East Africa, and aims to bring together Kenya, Ethiopia, and South Sudan through seven major projects.

LAPSSET Authority is conducting a study to decide on the location for the plant.
