08 Dec 08 by desalination
Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction signed the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for the third stage of the Jeddah desalination plan in Saudi Arabia on 1 December 2008.
The US$ 300 million project will produce 53 MIGD (240,000 m³/d) of water for a population of 600,000.
Doosan will complete the construction of the plant, which will be built in Jeddah harbour, by November 2011.
This is the third major Middle East desalination contract for Doosan in 2008, following Shuwaikh in Kuwait (140,000 m³/d) in March and Shuweihat in the United Arab Emirates (450,000 m³/d) in July.
