The first phase (40%) of the reverse-osmosis (RO) trains for Singapore’s Changi NEWater treatment plant have been delivered within 7 months into the contract, sub-contractor Biwater announced on 5 December 2008.
This portion represents 91,200 m³/d (24 MGD) supplied by Biwater so far. Biwater AEWT in the USA carried out the detailed design and has procured equipment from the US and Europe, with Biwater Malaysia being responsible for the regional procurement and fabrication.
SembCorp Industries is general contractor for the design, build, own and operate RO contract for the Changi plant, which will initially treat 68,130 m³/d (18 MGD) of the water reclamation plant’s total 800,000 m³/d (211 MGD) effluent. This portion will be ramped up to 228,000 m³/d (60 MGD) by 2010.
