The UAE’s Federal Electricity and Water Authority (FEWA), responsible for supplying water and electricity in the northern emirates, has given Spanish contractor Cadagua a letter of intent for the award of a reverse-osmosis desalination plant in Al Zawrah, Ajman.
The contract, worth around € 41 million, includes the design, manufacture, supply, construction, installation, testing and commissioning of the desalination plant. The 45,560 m³/d plant incorporates energy recovery devices and features dissolved air flotation and ultrafiltration pretreatment
Cadagua leads the consortium, with ESSA Engineering as local civil engineering contractor, to whom the award was made. Work on the project will commence immediately and is due for completion in December 2012.
This is Cadagua’s second contract in the Middle East.
