EU launches low-volume desalination project in Gaza
A € 10 million desalination project for the Gaza Strip was launched on 12 December 2011 by the European Union (EU) as part of its latest contribution to supporting the Palestinian Authority.

Land set aside for Gaza desalination project

Grants and scholarship announced by MEDRC
Two grants have recently been made to the Middle East Desalination Research Center (MEDRC), which has also just announced the award of a scholarship to a student from the Islamic University of Gaza.

The Oman-based Middle East Desalination Research Centre (MEDRC) and the Palestine Water Authority (PWA) announced on 7 June 2011 a scholarship fund for 2011 through their joint Center of Excellence (CoE) in Desalination & Water Reuse.

Desalination plants part of Palestine agreement
Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a statement on 4 February 2011 agreeing to improvements in water, sewerage and electricity in Palestinian areas, following a meeting with Tony Blair, representative of the “Quartet” (USA, the United Nations, Russia and the European Union).

Israel working on Gaza desalination plan – Lieberman
Israel’s foreign affairs minister, Avigdor Lieberman, said on 18 July 2010 that Israel was working on a plan to build desalination plants and water purification infrastructure, as well as power stations, in the Gaza Strip.
