Wabag JV lands Oman port desalination contract
Chennai-based Wabag Ltd, in joint venture with fellow Indian contractor Nagarjuna Construction Company (NCC), has been awarded a contract for the completion of a seawater treatment plant, which will supply desalinated water to various industrial production plants in the Sohar International Port Complex.

VA Tech bags Indian power water treatment contract
VA Tech Wabag Limited, based in Chennai, India, has received an order for total water management of the Kakatiya and Rayalaseema thermal power projects under a balance of plants package as part of a consortium with APGENCO. The Wabag portion involves around INR 2900 million (€ 47 million).

Groundwater depletion rate accelerating worldwide
Groundwater stocks around the world are being depleted at an accelerating rate, according to a research paper soon to be published by the American Geophysical Union. The rate more than doubled between 1960 and 2000, increasing the amount lost from 126 to 283 km³ of water per year.
