Trinidad’s Point Lisas desalination plant has resumed operation following the completion of extensive planned maintenance work by its owner, the Desalination Company of Trinidad and Tobago.
The island’s Water and Sewerage Authority (Wasa) has ended temporary water schedules imposed in central and south Trinidad to facilitate the work and regular supply schedules are in operation.
Lower than anticipated rainfall during the rainy season had led to the postponement of the maintenance work on the 968 Ml/d plant which had been scheduled for July.
Wasa thanked customers for their cooperation in being more efficient in their water use to limit the effects of the reduction in supplies from the Point Lisas. The authority has continued to encourage its customers to use water wisely as it manages supplies in preparation for the dry season 2016.
