South Korean-owned, water treatment company GS Inima Environment has secured a €69.4 million ($93.9 million) deal to build a desalination plant in Tunisia.
Inima – a Spanish arm of Seoul-based construction firm, GS E&C since 2012 – sealed the Djerba plant order through a 50-50 consortium with Spanish water management company Aqualia. The order was placed by Tunisia’s water resource management corporation.
The plant will process 50,000 tonnes of sea water a day at a resort in southern Tunisia.
GS Inima, with its Spanish partner, will lead on the drawing of designs, procuring materials and building the plant.
The contract marks GS E&C’s entry into Tunisia’s construction market.
