Iran to build two desalination plants to increase oil production

Gachsaran Oil and Gas Production Company, Iran, is to build two new desalination plants to support increased crude oil production capacity, reports Mehr News Agency.

The works will comprise Gachsaran-3, a desalination plant able to support processing of 110,000 barrels a day of crude oil, and Bibi Hakimeh-1, processing 55,000 barrels a day.

Gachsaran Oil and Gas managing director Houshang Seidali told Mehr News that the new desalination capacity will increase the production of crude oil by 15,000 barrels a day. Additionally, it will help to process salt oil, enhance the quality of produced oil, protect oil resources, prevent the decline of refinery feedstock, and mitigate environmental challenges.

Gachsaran Oil and Gas operates crude oil extraction sites in the provinces of Kohgiluyeh-Boyerahmad, Khuzestan, Bushehr, and Fars, in south Iran.
