India and Israel are looking to cooperate in water conservation, recycling and desalination.
According to a report in online newspaper, Livemint , Israel’s prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, had, suggested to India’s president, Pranab Mukherjee, that water conservation and related areas should be a new area of cooperation between the two countries.
Netanyahu’s proposal was reported to the press recently by Israel’s ambassador to India, David Carmon, as having come during Mukherjee’s visit to the Israel in October last year and again during a visit by Indian foreign minister, Sushma Swaraj earlier this year.
Referring to the two countries’ collaborations in defence and agriculture, Carmon was reported by Livemint as saying, “The next big thing we would like to do is in water. We are already engaged in this sector but the potential is enormous.”
