Low-energy seawater desalination, network asset management, and energy efficiency in wastewater treatment were among global focus areas in technology identified by more than 300 water technology experts at a recent international summit.
The summit included experts from water and wastewater utilities, industrial water users, researchers, and investors during two-days at the inaugural Technology and Innovation Summit at the Singapore International Water Week.
Summit chair, and chief executive of Singapore’s water agency, PUB, Ng Joo Ee Ng, said the research areas were important towards accelerating the development of new solutions. He went on to say these solutions will need to integrate two or more research areas because the challenges faced by the water sector were complex and encompassed multiple disciplines.
