Consultant, CH2M HILL, in partnership with the Singapore Public Utilities Board (PUB) and Singapore Cooperation Enterprise, is providing water management services to the Rajasthan state government in India.
The Public Health and Environment Department for the ancient city of Jaipur has engaged CH2M Hill to address its growing challenges from water scarcity and diminishing security and quality as demand escalates.
In recent years, Jaipur has become more reliant on groundwater resources as pollution, spreading urbanisation and climate change, have all reduced quality and availability of its traditional surface water resources.
To address these challenges, Jaipur has turned to industry experts CH2M Hill and Singapore, which has tackled similar water scarcity issues through its reuse of treated wastewater programme, NEWater and water portfolio diversification.
According to CH2M HILL vice president and lead for the programme, Vinod Singh: “Singapore has set a new benchmark in the successful implementation of projects for indirect potable (drinking) and direct non-potable (non-drinking) applications by close integration of advanced treatment technologies, public education and participation, water safety management, and public private partnership investments.”
