Almar Water Solutions has become an equity investor in ENAPAC, a proposed solar-powered desalination project in Atacama, Chile.
Almar Water Solutions signed a memorandum of understanding with project developer TRENDS Industrial, to help firm-up the economic and technical aspects of the project. The base investment required is $500 million.
ENAPAC is a solar-powered seawater reverse osmosis desalination plant and water conveyance project, which envisages selling water to multiple mining clients in Atacama region. TRENDS Industrial chief executive Rodrigo Silva, and Carlos Cosín, Almar Water Solutions chief executive, presented to Chile’s economy minister José Ramón Valente, under whose Office of Management of Sustainable Projects the proposals will move ahead.
