Spanish infrastructure company Acciona has won a contract to supply potable water through seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO) desalination on the Italian islands of Pantelleria, Linosa and Lampedusa.
The SWRO system along with a brackish water reverse osmosis plant on Linosa and a SWRO on Lampedusa already in operation have a production capacity of about 4.6 million m³ a year. The total new investment is estimated at € 3.3 million (US$ 4.5 million), with total ten-year project revenues of € 54.5 million (US$ 73.7 million).
