Authorities in Mangaluru, a port city on the Arabian Sea, on India’s west coast, are proposing a 200,000 m3/d desalination plant, reports Daiji World.
The cost of project, which will be a public-private partnership (PPP), is expected to total INR 1,500 crores ($233 million).
The proposed plant will provide water for domestic and industrial purposes in Mangaluru district, in the state of Karnataka.
Earlier in 2017, Karnataka urban development minister Roshan Baig reportedly urged officials to visit desalination plants in the state of Chennai, at Nemmeli and Minjur, to learn more about their operations.
