Ex-Veolia chief joins board of Spain's FCC

Spanish contractor FCC, which in consortium with Aqualia has built desalination plants including Bajo Almanzora in Spain and Guía de Isora in the Canaries, has appointed Olivier Orsini, former secretary general of Veolia Environnement to its board.

Other independent directors announced on 19 July 2013 were Gustavo Villapalos, a former minister, and Professor Gonzalo Rodríguez, professor emeritus at the Autonomous University of Madrid.

Orsini has been chairman of Proactiva since December 2002. In June, FCC sold Veolia its 50% stake in Proactiva, of which Veolia is a founding partner. Until April 2012, Orsini was general secretary of Veolia Environnement, where he has spent most of his career.
