Yokogawa Middle East & Africa is to supply a distributed control system for a power and desalination plant in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for the first time.
The order from Sharjah Electricity & Water Authority is to provide control systems for Layyah Power and Desalination Plant in Sharjah, UAE.
The project is to retrofit the control systems, auxiliary facilities, and utilities for units number seven and eight, each comprising a 75 megawatt oil and gas-fired thermal power plant, and a 27,000 m3/d multi-stage flash desalination facility.
At each unit, Yokogawa will supply its CENTUM VP integrated production control system for the boiler, turbine governor, turbine protection system, and desalination plants; as well as the ProSafe-RS safety instrumented system for burner management and boiler protections.
The company will also supply field instruments, including DPharp EJA series differential pressure/ pressure transmitters, continuous emission monitoring systems, and steam and water analysis systems.
Yokogawa will engineer, install and commission the systems, with all work to be completed by end of September 2017.
Yokogawa Middle East & Africa, a subsidiary of Yokogawa Electric Corporation, of Japan, is working to expand its control business in the power and water infrastructure market.
