Pressure energy technology, Energy Recovery, has won a US$ 3.96 million order to install its PX Pressure Exchanger technology at a 50,000 m³/d independent water plant at Qurayyat, Oman.
Energy Recovery has completed an earlier, similarly large project with Hyflux, including the 500,000 Ml/d Magtaa desalination plant located in Algeria, which uses Energy Recovery turbochargers.
Hyflux will use Energy Recovery’s PX-Q300 Pressure Exchanger devices for the water plant in Oman. The plant is located near the Arabian Sea and produces 200 Ml/d of fresh water. Energy Recovery forecasted the PXs will cut plant power consumption by 20 MW and save 173 GWh of energy per year.
With the current deal Energy Recovery’s desalination business has reported over US$14 million in large desalination orders in 2015. along with small OEM sales.
Energy Recovery president and chief executive officerJoel Gay said “The company is now seeing increasing activity in an improving desalination market.
