A public environmental review (PER) was issued on 26 September 2011 for a 35,000 m³/d seawater desalination plant at Cape Riche in Western Australia, 90 km northeast of Albany.
Perth-based company Grange Resources Ltd is proposing the project as part of its Southdown magnetite mine development.
The PER states that the reverse-osmosis desalination plant will be connected to the mine via a 25.6 km treated water pipeline.
