US reclamation bureau seeks water reuse proposals

Funding for development of feasibility studies for water reclamation and reuse projects within the 17 western US states and Hawaii has been made available by the US Bureau of Reclamation.

The Bureau announced on 13 December 2010 that the Title XVI program focuses on identifying and investigating opportunities to reclaim and reuse wastewater and naturally impaired ground and surface water. It has the potential to stretch water supplies using time-tested methodologies and piloting new concepts.

Applicants have been invited to submit proposals for cost-shared funding (50/50 non- federal/federal funding) that can be completed in one year. The announcement can be found on www.grants.gov under funding opportunity number R11SF80310.

Proposals must be submitted for both opportunities by 11 February 2011, and it is anticipated that the awards will be made in the spring.
