The former chairman and CEO of Osmonics Inc, Dean Spatz, has joined the board of Voltea, the UK developer of capacitive deionization (CapDI) desalination.
Spatz is a chemical engineer and past or present member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, American Membrane Technology Association, International Desalination Association and American Water Works Association, and was on the board of directors of the Water Quality Association. He is also a director of Sigma-Aldrich Corporation, a Fortune 1000 company.

Voltea’s award-winning platform technology CapD-I has numerous applications, from water softening in domestic appliances to treatment of water used in industrial processes.
Initial investment in Voltea came from Unilever Ventures, followed in 2009 by leading US water company Pentair. Rabo Ventures led an additional financing round in 2010.
