Israel’s giant Ashdod desalination plant is to use PX-Q300 energy-recovery pressure-exchangers supplied by Energy Recovery Inc (ERI) of the USA.
ERI announced the contract for the 430,000 m³/d seawater reverse-osmosis plant on 6 March 2012.
The agreement was made with IVM Minrav Sadyt, a consortium involving Spanish company Sadyt as the process technology partner and Minrav Holdings as the civil construction partner.
“The added value that ERI brings to projects of this magnitude is immense. We are able to achieve substantial savings in energy costs in combination with higher performance technologies,” stated Pablo Abril Martorell, general manager of Sadyt.
“We are very encouraged to see the increased level of activity in the desalination industry this year. ERI has been providing high-performance PX energy efficiency devices into this market for decades. We are extremely pleased to see that our clients are making the best, long-term investment decisions for their projects,” stated Tom Rooney, executive officer of Energy Recovery Inc.
