A reverse-osmosis (RO) drinking-water plant supplied by ThermoEnergy Corporation to a major US military base at an undisclosed location in the Africa/Middle East region was commissioned in early December 2011.
ThermoEnergy supplied the equipment, installation, quality assurance and testing for the project, which began in 2009.
The RO system treats brackish water with high-solids content from wells influenced by volcanic contributions and seawater intrusion. It then processes it into safe, potable drinking water.
The system will serve military and civilian personnel as a permanent water source.
