D&WR/IDA focus on Oil & Gas for next online symposium
Desalination & Water Reuse (D&WR), the magazine of the International Desalination Association, today announces the latest in the series of international online symposia it is holding in partnership with the IDA Desalination Academy, designed to enable participants to listen to and question some of the world’s leading desalination experts.
In recent years, the expansion of oil shale and coal seam gas exploitation has created a large new market for desalination and water reuse. For this reason, D&WR has chosen Desalination & Water Reuse for Oil & Gas as the theme for its next online, which will take place in two parts on 4 and 11 December 2013.
The first part of the symposium on 4 December will cover Applications, while the second on 11 December will look at Technologies. Both will feature experts currently working in the oil and gas sector to provide an all-round look at the current techniques and technologies being employed.
Subjects will include treatment and disposal of frac water, flowback and produced water, plus enhanced oil recovery using water and other topical issues. Technologies will include forward osmosis, membrane distillation, humidification/dehumidification and electrochemical conversion.
Presentations will include a series of informative PowerPoint slides along with an audio explanation from the speaker. Following each presentation, the speakers will discuss a selection of questions submitted by symposium participants.
The symposium will be chaired by the editor of D&WR, Robin Wiseman, and confirmed speakers include:
John Walsh – Cetco Energy Services
Water Treatment for Oil and Gas overview
Devesh Mittal – Aquatech
Reuse of flowback and produced water
Holly Johnson – Water Standard
Water-based enhanced oil recovery
Dr. Subir Bhattacharjee,- Water Planet Engineering
Enhanced Oil Recovery Water Treatment.
