The 50,000 m³/d seawater desalination plant currently under construction in Limassol, Cyprus, will use PX-260 pressure-exchangers from Energy Recovery Inc (ERI).
Contractor Nirosoft selected the ERI energy-recovery devices to curb energy use and operational cost for the reverse-osmosis plant which will serve up to 120,000 people. Cyprus hopes to fully meet its water needs through desalination by 2011.
“This is the sixth desalination plant in Cyprus in which our PX devices are implemented, and we are continuing to make energy efficient SWRO desalination a reality for the island country to serve hundreds of thousands of its people with fresh potable water,” said Emad Al Sharif, global sales director of ERI.
