NCEDA collaborates on climate-resilient water map

An interactive map for Australia’s Bureau of Meteorology website, which shows sources of climate-resilient water including desalination and water recycling, is being developed by the Commonwealth Scientific & Industrial Research Organisation through the National Centre for Excellence in Desalination Australia (NCEDA).

Jointly funded by NCEDA and the Australian Water Recycling Centre of Excellence, this project will provide information to the public on the significance and growing importance of desalination and water reuse to Australia’s water security.

However, finding and identifying Australia’s desalination plants (NCEDA thinks there are more than 600) is a challenge. The centre has been greatly helped by the major desalination companies that built many of the plants and by people who have been working in the industry in some cases since the 1960s.

Anyone who knows of a desalination plant that they believe should be included is invited to contact NCEDA at [email protected].
