The Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) in India has extended until 15 November 2009 its tender deadline for a techno-economic feasibility study for a desalination plant in Mubai, according to a local website.
The original invitation to tender was issued on 10 October 2009 with a closing date of 31 October. It sought national and international firms to prepare a study report for a seawater desalination plant of 10,000 m³/d capacity and the erection of a 1,000-1,500 m³/d demonstration plant, which the successful applicant would probably have to run and maintain for six months.
The MCGM’s hydraulic department has so far not received any bids. It is thought that bidders have been deterred by a condition which stipulates that those involved in the demonstration project would not be given a chance to participate in the full-scale plant.
