Levant Desalination Association sets conference for late September

The Levant Desalination Association (LDA) has announced that its first conference will be on 28- 29 September 2010, a week before the European Desalination Society’s event in neighbouring Israel.

The conference, which will focus on Water Reuse and Desalination: Experience and Opportunity is the first in a series of events addressing desalination and water reuse that will be produced by the LDA in the region. This first conference will be structured with expert presentations and an open forum to encourage lively interaction with all who attend. All presentations will be available in proceedings.

Topics to be covered by the conference will include:

  • Promotion of water demand management to ensure the sustainability of water resources.
  • How reuse of urban and industrial wastewater can reduce the need for allocation of fresh water to agriculture from other sources and increase the availability of drinking water by desalination.
  • How the use of desalination and water reuse technologies can provide cost effective solutions for countries in the Levant region.
  • The conference is being organized in a strategic partnership with the International Desalination Association and the Network of Syrian Scientists, Technologists & Innovators Abroad, under the patronage of HE Mohammed Naji Otri, prime minister of Syria.
Location will be the Cham Palace, Damascus, Syria.
